COMBio is now recognised as Research Excellence Consortium for AI by Ministry of Education

Starting 1st January 2021, the consortium comprising of AIMST University (lead), UTM & UTHM will be embarking on biodiversity conservation using omics, supercomputing and AI.

Our 3rd GCRF fund with UoL

Expanding our phage discovery work, we have secured our third GCRF fund early this year with Dr. Andrew Millard, University of Leicester. We will be decoding rainforest phages using sequencing technology for leads to combat the rising AMR infections.

Start of a new research consortium in AI

COMBio, AIMST University together with teams from UTM and UTHM have formed a research consortium for Artificial Intelligence (AI) called MACBio. We have been awarded a fund of RM500,000 by MOE for addressing biodiversity conservation using sequencing technology and AI.

Precision agriculture with a twist

COMBio together with team members from UPM  and RC Buminiaga successfully secured  funding worth RM1,436,252 from CREST for an integrated precision agriculture for paddy.

Official opening ceremony of COMBio laboratory

The opening ceremony of COMBio laboratory was officiated by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Harcharan Singh Sidhu in May, 2019. In attendance were all members of COMBio, including our Joint Director and Joint Deputy Director from University of Copenhagen.
